On September 26, 2000, a ragtag bunch of activists and myself crashed a high-level symposium at Foellinger Auditorium at the University of Illinois. We serenaded the big wigs with a modified rendition of the UI Alma Mater. The title of the tune is "Whence Comes the Funding?" New MP3's available
A fan who remembered my work from the early '90's e-mailed today to request that I upload "Dear Abby"/"This Town Ain't Big Enough," which was released as a 7" on Nihilator Records in 1993. Also requested was "Zoom Zoom Ditty," a cassette-tape demo I recorded in 1990 or so. Click the "Free Mp3's" link, and you should find them there, straight from the archive.
"Urbana 2055"
Just today (2/20/08) I finally got around to recording my Utopian vision of Urbana "half a century hence," which I wrote to share with fellow volunteers of Laurel Prussing's mayoral campaign in 2005. It's a musical time capsule, and it's available now at the "Free mp3s links" above and below!
"Mercy" and "Imagine the Angels of Bread"
Two new mp3's have been added this week. "Mercy" (Mercy-15Feb2008-take2.mp3) is a microtonal protest song featuring Jacob Barton on the udderbot, along with me on fretless guitar. "Imagine the Angels of Bread" (Imagine_the_Angels_of_Bread.mp3) is a setting of the poem by Martin Espada. It features Karina Lepeley on vocals and William Gillespie on bullhorn, accompanied by me on piano and guitar, and by sampled percussion from the Infernal Noise Brigade.

This week, I've uploaded a recording of my debut performance on the fretless guitar: This recording (PK-Puriya_Kalyan-Channing-Murray1Sep2007.mp3) is of the Hindustani Raga Puriya Kalyan, as performed at the Channing-Murray on September 1, 2007. The raga was performed as part of Urbana Burning 2007, a mostly literary performance hosted by Spineless Books.
